Dr. Richard Parsons is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned a M.A. and Ed.D in counseling psychology from Argosy University, with post-graduate studies at Johns Hopkins University. He received an additonal year of training at the Washington School of Psychiatry in child and adolescent psychotherapy. Dr. Parsons has a certificate in the diagnosis and treatment of sexual addiction. He has over 30 years of experience in the field of personal, professional, academic, and spiritual development. The passion of his life's work has been to make a difference in people's lives by helping them discover and release their inner potential for greater success in every dimension of life. The focus of his counseling work is to offer his clients a genuine relationship of acceptance, understanding, and non-judgment during a difficult time in their lives.
As a trained and experienced mental health professional, Dr. Parsons incorporates the science of psychology and Christian values into his counseling work with couples, adolescents, and adults. Many psychological approaches to counseling tend to utilize humanistic and new age techniques. Dr. Parsons' approach to the counseling relationship is to integrate his professional training and Christian worldview. Dr. Parsons has experience working with couples, families, and individuals with a wide array of emotional, behavioral, and spiritual struggles such as anxiety disorders, depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem, sexual addiction, anger management, sexual and physical abuse, marital and other relationship struggles.
He is passionate about walking with his clients as they discover deeper dimensions of God's healing love, grace, and mercy through Jesus Christ, which can bring love, joy, and peace into troubled lives and relationships.
Dr. Parsons is also a trained personal and professional coach who received training through the Coaches Training Institute and Wellcoaches, Inc.
